Who We are

Welcome to Lincoln Minster School

We aim to provide an environment that sets high expectations, facilitating stretch and challenge, where each child is stimulated to fulfil their potential in preparation for the next stage of their education and future employment.

Message from Headmaster

At Lincoln Minster School we offer an all-through education, where the nurturing, stimulation and development of our pupils in all areas of school life, overseen by inspiring and caring staff, is at the heart of what we do. Our ‘I AM ME’ principle refers to how we celebrate our pupils as individuals and what they bring to Lincoln Minster School in their own special way. From Pre-Prep to Prep, through to Senior, the levels of participation of our pupils across many areas of school life is a real joy to see. I strongly believe that a very important part of our mission is to inspire pupils to develop interests beyond the classroom and also develop a sense of balance in their lives. A real stand out for me is the sense of togetherness and connectedness that links staff, parents and pupils. Here, there is a real sense of a shared journey and ambition, underpinned by a caring and nurturing environment. The ‘feel’ of a school is not something that can be manufactured. It comes from the shared values and the way pupils, parents and staff support each other. Our intention is to provide an inspiring ‘Education for Life’, from 2 years of age all the way through to our A Level pupils. Individual needs are catered for across all age groups where boys and girls, of differing abilities and interests, excel in our vibrant community and where pupils have the opportunity to develop their leadership, mentoring and communication skills. We have a blend of day pupils and boarders, both from overseas and from the UK. This broad social and cultural mix ensures the school has a truly national and global outlook. We encourage our pupils to stretch and challenge themselves, to test new skills outside their comfort zone, not to worry when they make a mistake, but to learn from it. This way, our boys and girls develop a resilience, grow in self-esteem and become more equipped to face the challenges that lie ahead. Being part of and leading such a strong community is an absolute privilege. I hope our website gives you a feel for what Lincoln Minster School offers, however, nothing beats visiting the school itself and I invite you to visit us so that you can see our pupils in class and so acquire a sense of the way they learn. You will be most welcome. J. M. Wallace MBA BA(Hons) PGCE

Exam Result

We are committed to offering the very best quality of teaching, learning and academic support. We aim to make sure that each pupil reaches their personal best by providing an enriching, engaging and challenging study programme.
The achievements of our pupils positions us as one of the top independent schools in the East Midlands. We do not believe, however, that results alone show the true measure of a school. We are committed to the individual needs and enthusiasms of each child. It is far more important that each individual achieves his or her very best. A truly excellent education is about much more than academic achievement alone: it is also about developing a passion for learning, capacity for independent thinking, moral values, self-confidence without arrogance, and a broad range of interests that extend beyond the confines of the classroom. In short, it is developing the whole person, to ensure that each pupil leaves here ready for the challenges that lie ahead.

Sixth Form

A unique and enviable studying experience.
Our vision is to cultivate an independent learning community where each pupil feels a sense of belonging; motivated and determined to make the most of every opportunity. The exceptional quality of our pastoral care ensures that time in our Sixth Form is spent productively, whilst being successful, fulfilling and enjoyable. Together, we work towards promoting progress, through providing an enriching, engaging and challenging study programme. We are proud to offer five hours per week of teaching for each A Level subject studied, as well as dedicated co-curricular time for pupils to get involved in a variety of clubs and activities.

Opening up doors
We regularly achieve in the region of 90% of all pupils gaining entry into their first-choice university, as well as having managed to secure places on competitive apprenticeships with companies such as Siemens and BAE Systems. Sixth Form study is challenging but immensely rewarding. The expectation is that our pupils will become increasingly enterprising and emerge as skilled, knowledgeable and competent independent learners.

Preparation for the future
All pupils are entered for the highly regarded Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) where they independently choose a topic and question to research, write up and present. Frequently, students choose to focus on an area of personal interest which is directly relevant to their Higher Education subject choice and which helps demonstrate their interest and commitment as well as developing their specialist vocabulary and knowledge. Providing a curriculum that is rich in academic rigour, breadth and variety is essential. We offer an extensive choice of A Level courses as well as vocational options for students with the introduction of BTECs in Travel and Tourism, and Music, CTEC Business and a Level 3 Certificate/Diploma in Food Science and Nutrition. We are confident that with our broad and inclusive curriculum for Post-16 study, as well as specialist teachers and outstanding academic and pastoral support, we can meet the needs and requirements of each and every one of our pupils.

Sixth Form entry
Places are offered subject to satisfactory GCSE predictions and results. Additionally, pupils will be expected to meet the specific subject entry requirements for their Post-16 study choices. International applicants must pass our entrance examinations. More information can be found in our Sixth Form Curriculum Guide.
